Expectations:

•Teaching music education to students in grades K-6

•Teaching choral music to Middle School and High School students

•Helping students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music

•Planning music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing instruments and listening

•Performing other duties directly related to this job description

Responsibilities:

General

•Teaching skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music to elementary students

•Effectively managing large classes of students

•Being a positive Christian role model for students at all times

•Planning/executing a balanced music program

•Organizing class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time

•Encouraging students to develop individual music skills to the greatest extent possible

•Utilizing a repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary which are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students

•Maintaining care/responsibility for school-owned music, instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse

•Evaluating each student’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding. Assesses each individual's contribution to the performance of the group

•Supervising groups of students in activities outside of school hours and off campus

•Leading performances

•Performing administrative duties

•Budgeting and fundraising money accounts

K-6 General Music

•Scheduling programs in a timely manner, and adding dates to master calendar

•Coordinating with staff in providing musical programs at Christmas and Springtime

•Communicating in a timely manner with staff and parents regarding requirements/dress for programs

•Informing teachers of any part they may play in oversight of students on nights of performances

•Organizes program rehearsal schedules with staff for times outside normally scheduled classes

Middle School/High School Choir

•All of the above

•Developing student’s musical technique and style for school and competitive performance

•Planning logistics and transportation for several events outside of school per year

•Planning and organizing concerts and other public performances (ACSI competitions), including:

  • Scheduling, selection of music, rehearsals

  • Preparing/producing concert programs

  • Logistics: arranging venue, transportation, equipment

Education/other Requirements:

  • BA in Music Education (preferred)

  • Must be affiliated with a church

  • Must have valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

•Walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, jump, bend, squat

•Reach with hands and arms

•Speak and listen

•Lift and carry up to 40 pounds

•View things up close, at a distance, see colors, periphery, depth, and ability to adjust focus

K-6 General Music Teacher; MS/HS Choral Teacher


Summer Preschool Director

Hours:

•Part-time / Full-time (must be flexible to start)

Reports to:

•Preschool Director

Expectations:

•Plan and direct summer program, including well-rounded curriculum

•Plan and prepare classrooms for daily activities to run smoothly and be understood for all who enter the room

•Plan and implement field trips

•Create a fun and loving environment for 10-20 students daily

•Communicate progress and daily activities with parents and members of leadership

•Stay current on all certifications and trainings

•Maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom

•Establish a nutritious snack program

•Serve children snacks and lunch

•Welcome visitors and arrange for a pleasant visit

•Attend all staff meetings and participate in recommended training programs

•Assures a classroom environment that is friendly, inviting, and supportive

•Give parents an oral report of activities done and how the child did throughout the day

Qualifications:

•State certified as outlined by the Colorado Social Services Department for Group Leader Teacher

•Knowledgeable about LCS policies/procedures

•Enthusiastic, open and honest

•Devoted to God’s Word

•Confident in leading, orderly, embraces change

•Committed to excellence, uses goal setting

•Sensitive to power dynamics, guards integrity and character of others

•Conducts conferences in an atmosphere of trust

•Offers assistance to teachers, monitors concerns, and makes effective decisions

Responsibilities:

•Academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, including children ages 3-4

•Developing partnerships with birth parents/child’s caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation

•Assuring compliance with codes of all state and local government contracting agencies

•Working with other staff members of Longmont Christian School

•Interview parents of prospective students

•Enroll children on a first-come basis

•Place orders for necessary supplies and equipment

•Plan for the evaluation of the students in relation to progress, abilities and special needs.

•Maintain a referral system for students with special needs

•Contact state for confirmation to health, safety, and licensing regulations

•Keep health history and reports for children

•Plan and implement procedures for keeping accurate class records.

Education/other Requirements:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

•EEC Certification

•Must be affiliated with a church

•Must have valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

•Walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and/or crawl

•Reach with hands and arms

•Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

•Speak and listen

•Lift and carry up to 25 pounds; in an emergency, carry a 40 pound child

•View things up close, at a distance, see colors, periphery, depth, and ability to adjust focus

•May occasionally be required to drive a motor vehicle
