The Longmont Christian School Choral Program is made up of sixth to twelfth grade vocalists. Most recently, the choirs performed their Fall Choir Concert premiering the first Alma Mater in the history of the school. This April choir members will be traveling to California to perform in Disneyland along with the Longmont Christian Jazz Band.
This year the choral students have written a mission statement for our program and it really defines what we ultimately strive to do. It reads:
Middle School Choir
Middle School Choir is open to students in sixth through eighth grades. This course encourages music appreciation by teaching students the skills necessary for individual and ensemble performances, including proper posture, breathing techniques, scales, music theory, singing as a group, and, when opportunities allow, singing as a soloist. Performance opportunities include several concerts throughout the year as well as participation in the ACSI Music Festival, singing the National Anthem at select LCS athletic home games, and Christmas caroling at the Zoo Lights each year. Private voice lessons are available as well.
High School Choir
High School Honor Choir is open to students in ninth through twelfth grades. Honor Choir offers the opportunity to further develop a student's talent in solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble settings. Performance opportunities include several public concerts, as well as participation in the Elitch Garden Music Festival Competition, singing the National Anthem at select LCS athletic home games, Christmas Caroling, an annual vocal competition of the LCS Voice and an annual Choir Tour every Spring semester. Choir Tour is a special opportunity in which singers serve members of the community, have devotion together, and perform in exciting venues. Private voice lessons are available as well.
