LCS BOARD BLOG UPDATE – December 2018

As we wind down another successful year at LCS, we are reminded of the wonderful things God is doing in our school. He has blessed our school with outstanding and dedicated teachers, staff and students learning to be good stewards of our Christian faith.

Takeaways from our December 13th Board Meeting.

Devotional- At each board meeting we start with a devotional. For December our devotional was Luke 11: 9 -10. “So, I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be open “

  • What are you asking God for?

  • How can we Pray Big to God for LCS?

Pray Big – We discussed how we need to Pray Big for the school and to continue to trust that God will provide. He has big plans for the school and so do we. Join us in praying for wisdom, support, confidence and courage to fulfill our mission and purpose at the school and in the community. Pray Big for the growth of the school enrollment, facilities and programs. Pray for a successful year end appeal campaign to raise over $100,000.

Season of Giving – Tuition covers approximately 60% - 70% of the cost of operating LCS. We appreciate the countless volunteer hours and support we receive through fund raising events to help cover the difference. As you or your family consider year-end contributions we kindly ask that you consider a donation to LCS. We have been blessed through an anonymous donor that will match up $50,000 contributions made to the school during our year-end appeal. Our goal is to raise at least $100,000. Monetary gifts are tax deductible and may be eligible for Colorado Childcare tax credit. You can drop off a donation at the school, mail or donate online through the LCS website.

Way to GO! Congratulations for all accomplishments of our students this fall. From band, to drama and choir to volleyball and basketball, our students continue to drive for excellence and have fun performing at their best. LCS had an awesome float in the Longmont Parade of Lights. Take time to congratulate our students and thanks to all who support them in their activities.

Vision in Action: The committee has finalized specific priorities and actions to answer the question – What is a premier Christian High School in Northern Colorado? At LCS we want to be…

  • Courageously Christian

  • Rigorously Academic

  • Thriving Community

  • Financially Strong

Several project teams have been established to implement recommendations. In Q1 2019, the committee will begin efforts with Middle School and Elementary School parents and staff to capture the needs and recommendations.

Growing LCS – We are actively working on plans to expand the school facilities and programs for the coming years. These plans include a new gymnasium and auditorium. We are planning to launch a Capital Campaign in 2019 to raise funds for the expansions and investments in expanded academic and athletic programs. We want to establish an endowment to cover some of the operating costs of the school. We will be working on developing the LCS Story to share with investors in the school. We want to connect to more than donors but to individuals, families and other partners that want to invest in the mission of LCS.

We want to form a strong capital campaign committee, if you are interested in participating send email with your interest to lcsboard@longmontchristian.org

Communications: We are working hard to improve communications. We encourage families and friends of LCS to check out the LCS Blog on a frequent basis. There is a lot of information about school events, activities and news.

Upcoming Events:

Shadow Day for current and prospective students: January 28th

Marvelous Community Event (Wild Game Longmont) March 10th

The LCS Board would like to extend our best wishes to you and your family for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
